In short

An ICP, or Ideal Customer Profile, is a definition of the companies most likely to buy and succeed with your product, described by firmographics, segment, and need.

An ICP usually combines attributes like industry, company size, geography, business model, and the specific pain your offer addresses. It is about the account, not the individual buyer.

A sharp ICP makes signal-based outbound work: it tells the research layer which companies are worth watching, so that when a buying signal appears, it is filtered to accounts you can actually serve. Scout uses your ICP to decide which signals become openings.
