In short

Account research is the work of gathering and verifying the facts about a target company that make outreach relevant, timely, and credible.

Good account research answers practical questions before a single message is sent: Is the company real and a fit for the ICP? What changed recently? Does a source support the claim? Who is the likely buyer and are they reachable?

This is the slowest part of outbound to do well, because it has to be repeated for every account, every week. Scout productizes account research so teams get reviewed, source-backed records instead of doing the digging by hand.
